My name is Michelle Dongeun Kim, and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with a passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges. My journey began with a study of Human Psychology at DePaul University, where I cultivated a deep understanding of the human mind. I furthered my education by earning a Master's in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University.
In my early career, I gained invaluable experience working at one of the largest corporation, KPMG, where I honed my skills in communication and understanding human behavior. However, it was my transition into counseling that truly resonated with me. At the College Counseling Center, I had the privilege of working closely with college students, providing support during pivotal moments in their lives. Additionally, I spent several years at a private practice, where I continued to expand my expertise and refine my approach to therapy. I also wrote articles for Noblesse Magazine and currently working on publishing a book.
While my formal education and professional experiences have equipped me with essential knowledge and skills, I believe my most significant credentials stem from my personal journey. Through my own struggles and hardships, I have learned the power of resilience and self-reflection. It is this lived experience that allows me to connect deeply with my clients and provide genuine empathy and understanding.
I offer online therapy, clinical consultation, and supervision in both Korean and English to ensure accessibility for diverse populations. My specialization lies in working with adults facing a range of challenges including PTSD, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addiction, parenting concerns, grief, mid-life crises, and adult developmental issues.
Furthermore, I have a particular expertise in supporting first or second-generation immigrants who grapple with navigating cultural complexities and language barriers. Whether it's adapting to American culture or reconciling differences within one's own cultural background, I am committed to providing a safe and inclusive space for exploration and healing.
I am deeply passionate about empowering individuals to discover their inner strength and resilience, and I look forward to accompanying you on your journey towards growth and self-discovery.
When I'm not working with clients, you'll likely find me hanging out with my husband of 27 years and our adorable dog, Cookie. As empty nesters, we cherish our time together, whether it's taking leisurely walks or just relaxing at home. I also love writing, reading, and cooking. Getting lost in a good book, trying new recipes, and jotting down my thoughts bring me joy and balance. It's the little moments with loved ones that mean the most to me.
